Louis Vuitton Cup journalist Meltdown
Going out for a windless day
Jouralists and the like are feeling the effects of God's sense of humor. Seeing people get twitchy in the press center and having to translate or explain the expression going postal is forefront. Drawing straws for the winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup and sailing some races in the radio controlled boats have met certain strained looks when suggested. Being versatile and with other activities seems to be key in getting outside the dreamworld we call the America's Cup. Remembering that it is still just a boat race sends people into a state of denial worthy of an AA candiate. Speaking to a fairly insightfull not BS Australian, he pointed out in defense that the weather in the other proposed arenas have not been fairing any better nor are the other cities more adaptable or have lower crime rates which seems to have more news than sailing. We gone full circle and it is a classic "support the troops" scenario instead of the blame game. A for those who want a little cheese with their "whine" when someone three years ago suggested it was hard to drum up interest in the US for the Americas Cup I have the same answer now as then. I have serious doubts whether the partents of sons and daugthers in Iraq are tuning in on the AC races or the locals in Iraq either. It is still just a boat race and everyday life goes on with or without a yacht race.
